vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company, is seeking a Mechanical Designer with 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or building systems engineering. This role supports mechanical design delivery for global construction projects under close supervision from local Mechanical Engineering teams and in coordination with US-based Designers and Modelers. The position provides hands-on exposure to HVAC and building mechanical systems, BIM workflows, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the creation of mechanical drawings, specifications, and calculations throughout all phases of project design under close supervision from local Mechanical Engineering teams and coordination with US Designers/Modelers.
- Assist in developing mechanical system layouts and design documentation for heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), piping, and equipment systems using working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- Prepare and update mechanical plans, schematics, sections, details, and schedules as directed.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, designers, and modelers to produce coordinated and accurate 2D and 3D mechanical models using CAD and BIM tools.
- Participate in interdisciplinary coordination to support clash detection, resolution, and constructability.
- Support construction administration activities by reviewing submittals, responding to requests for information (RFIs), and participating in site visits as directed.
- Ensure design deliverables meet project quality standards, schedules, and budget requirements.
- Incorporate review comments and markups into design documents under guidance.
Skills
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in mechanical design, building systems design, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, piping, and equipment layouts.
- Basic understanding of applicable mechanical codes and standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, and related guidelines.
- Proficiency in design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Revit (MEP), or similar CAD/BIM platforms.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, designers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn.
- Experience supporting US-based projects is an added advantage.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
