Project Manager – Steel Detailing
Job Summary:
GPLA is looking for a Project Manager for our Modeling and Steel Detailing team. They will be responsible for overseeing a team of detailers and modelers, ensuring that the drawings meet the client's requirements and industry standards. This position involves reviewing and approving final drawings, coordinating with senior project and technical managers, and providing technical support to the detailers and BIM team. The Project Manager also conducts in-model and shop drawing overviews, tracks reference models, drawings, and RFIs, and performs assigned tasks as directed by leadership.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing the detailers and modelers and ensuring that the drawings meet the client's requirements.
• Provide technical support to the detailers and BIM team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Review and approve the final drawings.
• Ensure the detailing meets the industry standards.
• Coordinate with the Senior Project Manager and Senior Technical Manager to ensure that the detailing meets the client's requirements and industry standards.
• In-Model and Shop Drawing overview and discussions with the production staff of deliverables in Tekla to verify standards are being met and used.
• Reviews and confirms all UDA’s are filled out correctly.
• Reference Model, Drawing, and RFI tracking for the project to verify that the latest content being referenced is up to date.
• Completes other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Required Skills & Abilities:
• Proficient in modeling/ Checking using Tekla Structures.
• Use of Bluebeam and Bluebeam studio / Revit.
• Strong project management skills are essential for a project manager. This includes creating project plans, setting objectives, developing schedules, allocating resources, and tracking progress. They should be able to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Leadership skills are essential to guide and motivate their teams. They should be able to inspire and empower team members, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative work environment. Effective communication and the ability to resolve conflicts are also crucial in leading project teams.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with GPLA Manager vC managers, clients, understand their needs and expectations, and ensure client satisfaction throughout the project.
• Strong communication skills to effectively communicate to convey project requirements, provide updates, and address concerns. Negotiation skills are also important for resolving conflicts and securing necessary resources for the project.
• Strong problem-solving skills to identify issues, analyze options, and implement effective solutions. Decisiveness is crucial in making timely and informed decisions that keep the project on track.
• Effective at time-management and delegation skills. They should be skilled at prioritizing tasks, allocating resources efficiently, and ensuring project milestones and deadlines are met. They should be able to balance competing priorities and adjust when necessary.
• Understanding of relevant industry regulations, codes, and standards. This includes knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards that apply to structural projects.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required.
