vConstruct, a Pune-based Construction Technology company is seeking an Associate Data Architect for its AI Engineering team, a close-knit group of analysts and engineers supporting all data aspects of the business. You will be responsible for defining and evolving enterprise data architecture, designing scalable data platforms and integration patterns, and establishing standards that ensure data is reliable, secure, connected, and accessible. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, architects, and business teams to design solutions that integrate and organize data from various sources, enabling business insights, analytics, and AI use cases.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for the end-to-end architecture and design of scalable, high-performance enterprise data platforms, pipelines, and data solutions aligned with enterprise architecture principles and data engineering best practices.
- Define and evolve enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models, ensuring consistency and interoperability across business domains and source systems.
- Design architecture for complex data integration workflows involving structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments.
- Define reusable architectural patterns and standards for real-time, batch, and on-demand data integration, including observability, monitoring, alerting, scalability, and automated error handling.
- Partner with data engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to design reliable data models and semantic structures that support analytics, reporting, AI/ML, and enterprise data products.
- Establish data architecture standards for data quality, metadata management, lineage, security, governance, retention, and lifecycle management across enterprise data platforms.
- Collaborate with platform, DevOps, security, and enterprise architecture teams to design secure, reusable, and CI/CD-enabled data solutions aligned with enterprise technology standards.
- Define and enforce architectural and engineering best practices for source control, development standards, testing automation, deployment, performance optimization, and maintainability of data solutions.
- Lead architecture and design reviews for critical data initiatives, identifying architectural risks, technical dependencies, scalability concerns, and opportunities for platform simplification and reuse.
- Evaluate data technologies, integration approaches, and platform capabilities, and provide recommendations based on scalability, performance, security, maintainability, cost, and business requirements.
- Create and maintain detailed architecture documentation, including data architecture diagrams, data models, data flows, integration patterns, reference architectures, and technical design specifications.
- Lead discussions with business, engineering, and technology teams to understand data requirements, translate business needs into scalable architecture, prioritize initiatives, and contribute to the enterprise data platform strategy and roadmap.
Qualifications
- 10 to 12 years of hands-on experience in data engineering-related roles, with demonstrated experience in designing and architecting large-scale, production-grade data platforms and enterprise data models.
- Proven experience providing technical and architectural leadership, including solution design, architecture reviews, technical guidance, and design decision-making.
- 5+ years of experience in data modeling, including conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, dimensional modeling, and designing scalable enterprise data models.
- 5+ years of experience with Python for data processing, automation, ETL development, prototyping, and solution validation.
- 5+ years of experience with Snowflake, including platform architecture, performance tuning, security model design, and advanced SQL development.
- 5+ years of experience with data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, or Matillion, including designing scalable data integration and orchestration patterns.
- 5+ years of experience in writing complex, highly optimized SQL queries on large datasets, with a strong understanding of query optimization and performance.
- 2+ years of experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks, including modular transformation development, testing, documentation, and reusable data modeling practices.
- Proven experience designing and managing integrations using APIs, JSON, XML, webhooks, and other enterprise integration patterns for data acquisition.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or equivalent, with a strong understanding of cloud data architecture, security, scalability, and integration patterns.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and code versioning tools (e.g., Git), along with modern data engineering and DataOps best practices.
- Experience with data architecture concepts including metadata management, data lineage, data quality, data governance, security, and access control.
- Exposure to semantic layers and data visualization tools such as Power BI for supporting downstream analytics is a plus.
- Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to lead architecture and solution design discussions with technical and business stakeholders.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Information technology or related field.
