vConstruct is looking for an Assistant Project Manager – Planning to support its Construction Management – India (CMI) business unit, where vConstruct functions as a Project Management Consultant (PMC) for hyperscale data center projects in India.
Assistant Project Manager - Planning for Data Center projects is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling integrated project schedules to ensure timely delivery of construction and commissioning activities. The role involves coordinating with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage project sequencing, procurement tracking, progress monitoring, risk mitigation, and recovery planning while ensuring alignment with project milestones, execution priorities, and overall project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
o Prepare and baseline integrated master schedules for Data Center projects using Primavera P6 / Microsoft Project covering Civil, Architectural, MEP, ELV, ICT, and Commissioning activities.
o Monitor project progress against baseline schedules and identify critical delays, constraints, and recovery opportunities.
o Develop detailed micro schedules, recovery schedules, shutdown plans, and weekly 2-week/3-week lookahead plans.
o Plan and monitor procurement schedules for long-lead mission critical equipment such as UPS, DG, Chillers, Transformers, Switchgear, CRAH/CRAC, and BMS systems.
o Coordinate daily with vendors and subcontractors to review Plan vs Actual progress, manpower deployment, material status, manufacturing progress, and delivery timelines.
o Coordinate with internal teams including Civil, MEP, Procurement, Design, QA/QC, Contracts, and Execution teams for timely resolution of project issues.
o Manage construction sequencing and interface coordination among Civil, MEP, OEM vendors and Commissioning teams
o Review contractor resource deployment, manpower histograms, productivity reports, and milestone achievements to ensure alignment with project targets.
o Maintain Risk Registers, identify project risks, and monitor mitigation and closure actions.
o Conduct delay analysis, schedule impact assessments, extension-of-time evaluations, and maintain delay logs
o Track and monitor testing & commissioning activities including Level 1 to Level 5 commissioning and phased handover requirements.
o Ensure contractual milestones and project deliverables are aligned with approved schedules and execution plans.
o Support Value Engineering and time/cost optimization initiatives to improve project delivery efficiency. Coordinate with costing/budgeting teams for the same.
o Review contractor schedules, resource deployment plans, productivity reports, and milestone achievements to ensure compliance with project objectives.
o Optimize site logistics, material flow, and construction coordination to minimize execution bottlenecks and last-mile inefficiencies.
o Establish project KPIs, planning procedures, reporting systems, and governance standards aligned with Data Center project requirements.
o Present weekly and monthly project execution reviews highlighting critical path status, risks, mitigation plans, commissioning readiness, and overall project performance.
o Optimize site logistics, material flow, and construction coordination to minimize execution bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
o Establish project KPIs, planning procedures, reporting systems, and governance standards aligned with Data Center project requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- B.E./B.Tech in Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Master's degree in construction management – preferred
Experience
- 10 - 12 years of relevant industry experience.
- Minimum 6 – 8 years of experience in Project Planning while based on-site
- Experience of having worked in at least 2 data center projects for complete life cycle as a Planning Engineer / Assistant Project Manager – Planning
Technical Requirements
- Strong knowledge and hands on experience of using MS Project / Primavera
- Strong understanding of overall project and construction management for hyperscale data centers
- Technology-driven mindset; exposure to BIM/VDC tools is an advantage
- Strong communication and coordination skills
