Why this role exists
This role strengthens the reliability and accuracy of project cost planning. It ensures that quantity insights, model-based takeoffs, and cost data provide project teams with clarity for decisions. It provides structure for early design information, reduces ambiguity around scope, and helps create a predictable foundation for budgeting and execution. When this work is done well, estimates stay grounded in fact, changes are understood early, and downstream teams build with greater confidence.
What will you own
• Developing accurate quantity estimates using CSI Uniformat, MasterFormat, drawings, specifications, and models.
• Preparing detailed quantity takeoffs for civil, landscape, structural, interior, envelope, and roofing scopes.
• Reviewing drawings, RFIs, details, and models to identify discrepancies or missing information.
• Using 3D models to improve 2D quantity workflows or extracting quantities directly from models.
• Building 3D models from 2D drawings to support the estimating process.
• Understanding building systems and resolving gaps in early or conceptual design sets.
• Translating quantities into cost estimates with clarity and accuracy.
• Comparing design versions and reporting changes in a clear, structured manner.
• Communicating with onsite estimators and aligning on expectations, deliverables, and risks.
• Understanding new scopes or platforms and developing workflows for the team.
• Documenting processes and training team members to strengthen capability.
• Building strong working relationships with onsite teams and contributing to collaborative delivery.
• Expanding into additional estimating scopes beyond core CSA as required.
A day in this role
The day starts with reviewing updates across drawings, models, and RFIs to understand what has changed and what needs attention. You work through quantity takeoffs, validate assumptions, and resolve gaps in design information. You collaborate with onsite estimators to confirm scope, clarify questions, or align on expectations. Cross-checks, model reviews, and version comparisons help maintain the accuracy of estimates. You support teammates by answering technical questions, sharing insights on workflows, or building systems. You document updates, refine processes, and explore tools or model-based methods that improve speed and precision. The day wraps up by summarizing progress, preparing for upcoming milestones, and ensuring all information stays organized and dependable.
What you should bring
• A degree in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Engineering or Management.
• At least two years of experience in building construction.
• Experience in CSA or MEP quantification is preferred.
• Familiarity with construction documents and terminology from the US, Europe, or India.
• Working knowledge of tools such as Revit, Assemble, CostX, OST, or Planswift.
• Strong skills in Excel or other estimating platforms.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently when needed.
• Strong communication and active listening skills.
• Ability to identify issues early and resolve them with clarity.
What will make your application stand out
• Experience producing quantities directly from 3D models or integrating model workflows with 2D processes.
• Ability to interpret incomplete design sets and fill gaps using strong system knowledge.
• Exposure to multiple trade packages beyond core CSA.
• Experience comparing design versions and presenting change impacts clearly.
• Work on process documentation or team training.
• Hands-on experience with automation tools, estimating platforms, or scripting for productivity.
• A track record of improving workflows or solving real project problems independently.
• Strong collaboration with onsite or international teams on live project scopes.
