Why this role exists
This role exists to bring predictability, clarity, and efficiency to MEP project delivery. It ensures that mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are accurately modeled, coordinated, and translated into actionable execution plans. By bridging design intent with field installation, this role helps teams resolve conflicts early, maintain quality, and deliver high-confidence outcomes on projects.
What will you own
Project Delivery & Model Authoring
- Develop high-precision BIM models for MEP systems at LOD 350+ to support installation and prefabrication.
- Interpret mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design drawings, and translate codes such as SMACNA, NFPA, and NEC into buildable models.
- Produce dimensioned layout drawings from BIM models and develop LOD 400 models for prefabrication using Revit MEP, eVolve MEP, SysQue, or similar tools.
- Work with parametric Revit families and BIM 360 environments to maintain accurate, buildable models.
Quality & Coordination
- Perform quality checks to validate model completeness, alignment with other trades, and data integrity.
- Capture as-built information and compare it with BIM models to ensure construction alignment.
- Conduct clash detection and coordinate with other trades (MEPF, Skin, Structure, Interiors, Site) using Navisworks, Revizto, or similar tools.
- Suggest solutions to conflicts and constructability challenges based on contract documents and field requirements.
Client & Team Interaction
- Collaborate with onsite and remote project teams to communicate updates, clarify requirements, and resolve issues.
- Participate in BIM coordination meetings and ensure seamless flow of information across trades.
- Foster a collaborative environment that strengthens team outcomes and project delivery.
Process & Innovation
- Explore automation opportunities using Dynamo or other Revit plugins to streamline repetitive tasks.
- Document workflows, lessons learned, and best practices for future project efficiency.
- Support prefabrication and MEP constructability by implementing optimized digital workflows.
A day in this role
A typical day involves reviewing MEP design drawings, identifying discrepancies, and updating BIM models accordingly. You coordinate with other trades to detect clashes, perform quality checks, and prepare layout or fabrication drawings. You spend time resolving design or constructability issues, integrating feedback from the field, and exploring new tools or automation opportunities. Client and team check-ins ensure alignment on priorities, progress, and next steps.
What you should bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering, Construction Management, or a related AEC field.
- 3+ years of experience in MEP BIM at LOD 350+ with installation-level deliverables.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP, eVolve MEP, SysQue, Revit Fabrication, Navisworks, and related 3D AutoCAD products.
- Strong understanding of MEP codes (SMACNA, NFPA, NEC) and construction documents.
- Ability to perform clash detection, quality checks, and model coordination across trades.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently.
What will make your application stand out
- Hands-on experience in developing LOD 400 prefabrication-ready MEP models.
- Ability to coordinate multiple trades and integrate complex systems into buildable models.
- Experience with BIM 360 environments and parametric Revit families.
- Knowledge of automation or scripting tools like Dynamo for workflow efficiency.
- Proven ability to translate complex MEP design intent into practical, high-quality models.
- Experience collaborating with international or remote project
teams.
