Technical Design Architect (Design-to-Build)

vConstruct is seeking a Technical Design Architect to join their growing team of Technical Design Services to support Design-Assist, Design-Build and Integrated Project Deliveries. The individual would work at the intersection of design and construction with the aim of bridging the gap between the design vision and technical execution ensuring architectural intent is preserved while achieving constructability, compliance and cost efficiency.  

This role would fit an individual who excels in technical design aspects, has strong design coordination skills, and has a good working knowledge of construction methodologies. This role would entail working through early design development to the construction stage of projects of different scales and complexities in core markets of our expertise such as hospitals, data centers and life science buildings. 

The individual would be working closely with the Technical Architecture-Regional leaders and on-site (US) counterparts, structural engineers and self-perform groups to develop design execution strategies on overall projects or on selected scope of work. As an early member of the team, the individual is expected to bring in a strong blend of technical knowledge and enthusiasm for innovation and development. 

Primary responsibilities include 

  1. Architectural modeling and documentation to support design development and detailing on design-assist projects and self-perform scopes. 
  2. Coordinating with onsite (US) regional leads, project teams, structural engineers, self-perform leads and design managers on design gaps or inaccuracies. 
  3. Conduct design and constructability reviews on architectural drawings, models and specifications to identify and flag any issues. 
  4. Develop different formats of drawings and deliverables such as but not limited to Construction Documents, Submittals and Shop drawings for intents of permit/ approval and for construction. 
  5. Support the development, production and maintenance of library of details for different architectural systems. 
  6. Develop and maintain Revit templates and families. 

Experience & skills 

  1. 3-5 years of working experience as a Technical Design Architect/ BIM Architect. 
  2. Educational qualification – Minimum of bachelor’s degree in architecture. 
  3. Experience on US-based projects is mandatory. Knowledge of US building codes and standards would be an added advantage. 
  4. Knowledge of architectural systems and construction methodologies in US, such as drywall partitions, waterproofing measures and exterior finish assemblies. Ability to examine the sequence and compatibility of construction components is highly desirable. 
  5. Experience in design development and coordination on healthcare and datacenter buildings would be a major advantage. 
  6. Prior experience in leading project scopes is a plus. 
  7. Intermediate to Advanced skills in Revit for Architecture modeling, documentation and detail development are mandatory. 
  8. Familiarity with developing and maintaining parametric families and Revit templates is a must. 
  9. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud, Navisworks, Bluebeam & Revit Dynamo is highly desirable. Familiarity with Rhino, Grasshopper, Tekla, and Revizto is a plus. 
  10. Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in conducting design reviews and to develop quality deliverables. 
  11. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams. 
  12. Proactive team player with a positive attitude who can develop strong stakeholder relationships.
